Buying A Condo In Thailand
Although a foreigner is not allowed to own land or a house in Thailand, It is now possible for him to buy a condo. Over the years, the Government has relaxed the rules and it has now become a relatively easier exercise.
The following laws cover the purchase of a condominium unit in Thailand by an alien:
- The Condominium Act B.E. 2522 (or 1979)
- The Condominium Act (No. 2), B.E. 2534 (or 1991)
- The Condominium Act (N. 3) B.E. 2542 (or 1999) issued on 28th April, 1999.
It is strongly advised that a competent attorney be appointed to handle the legal requirements and also to ensure safety in the contract drawn up with the seller.
