Temples
|
Bangkok has over 400 temples. Their aesthetic architecture lures the visitor to them. But it is the sense of serene tranquillity within their premises that is to be felt to be believed. Accessible to people of all faiths, Thai temples are highly accessible to visitors.
|
The most famous of the temples in Bangkok are:
- Wat Phra Kaeo (with the Emerald Buddha in the Grand Palace)
- Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn)
- Wat Pho (with the Reclining Buddha)
- Wat Traimitr (with the Golden Buddha)
- Wat Benjamabophitr (the Marble Temple).
These Buddha temples are excellent places for personal contemplation or meditation and if you find them too crowded with visitors during the day, go there at dawn or dusk, or better still, go to one of the smaller less-visited ones, often hidden in quiet corners of the city.
