Silom and Surawong Roads

A remote district just five decades ago, farmland with its paddy fields, today this area is the business and financial lifeline of the country.

Many banks, international firms, finance firms, insurance companies, export-import houses, airlines offices fill the many multi-storied buildings that rise up along these two roads. The area is full of hotels, restaurants, shops and malls, and ofcourse the entertainment establishments. Busy during daytime, this area transforms itself into a fairyland full of street vendors, bars and restaurants.

And it is in this area that the famous Patpong is located. Famous for adult entertainment, Patpong I and Patpong II have been around for decades, entertaining tourists. Patpong I also boasts a very tightly packed night market that sells everything from shirts to belts to imitation watches and pens. It also has some very lively bars and pubs with live music.

Worth a mention here is The Dome, sitting atop the State Tower at the Western end of Silom Road at its junctioon with Charoen Krung Road. The Dome offers several options of restaurants and bars with lovely 5-star setting for a breathtaking view of the city. Go there for atleast a couple of drinks at the Sirocco bar if you don't have time for dinner.
