Cruises on the Chao Phraya

Chao Phraya, the River of the Kings flows 400 kilometres, starting its journey among the fertile central plains. The lifeblood of the country, it is a major artery in the economic life of the region and connects the ancient capital Ayutthya with the modern day capital Bagkok.

There is no better way to experience the river than a cruise. Cruises are operated by numerous tour companies and can be booked from the travel desk in your hotel.

Lunch and Dinner Cruises

There are several lunch cruises where you can see the lifestyle along the river and the many wats and monuments that line its banks. Or you can take one of the many romantic dinner cruises. [CLICK HERE]

Cruises to Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya saw its heydays in the 18th century when it left European visitors in awe. Founded in 1350, Ayutthaya was a formidable presence in SE Asia, attracting traders from all the major European countries. However, it was destroyed by the Burmese armies in 1767, bringing a highly cultural era in Thai history to an end. The ruins of the former capital, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, however remain impressive. There are several Cruise companies that operate cruises there.

These include a day cruise that include buffet lunch or an evening cocktail/dinner, Or cruises that take you either upstream from Bangkok or downstream from Ayuthaya, staying overnight alongside a traditional Buddhist temple.

Rice Barge Cruise

In a fast changing city, experience the old lyfestyle along the banks of the canals (klongs) on these cruises. Explore the network of klongs branching out from the main Chao Phraya river and leave the hustle and bustle of Bangkok behind.
