Ancient City

Probably the worldís largest outdoor museum, the Ancient City, or Muang Boran, is located 33 Km from Bangkok, close to the Crocodile Farm.

Built on 80 hectares of land, shaped approximately like the map of Thailand, Muang Boran contains 109 replicas of Thailandís famous monuments and architectural attractions. Placed at their approximate places on the map, some of the replicas are life size while some are built to one-third scale.

The replicas include the former Grand Palace of Ayutthaya (destroyed in the Burmese invasion of 1767), Wat Khao Phra Viharn on the Cambodian border, sculptures from the Thai epic story, the Ramakien and a display of the Royal Barge procession. There is also a model Thai village in which craftsmen produce ceramics, paper umbrellas and lacquer items.

Muang Boran is usually quiet and a good place to get away from the city for a while. Allow yourself a full day for a visit.

Admission fee is 50 baht for adults and 25 baht for children.
